A warm welcome to those who are reading this!

I would like to introduce you to the concept of our mobile game prototype that we are developing. For our university module we were tasked to create a mobile game. We initially planned to have a game based on a snake that wonders through the various environments and explores the world.

However, we then wanted to create some form of objective wherein the player can go and collect something. This lead us to the idea of creating a game based on a manta ray, where the manta will go through the levels collecting the fish that it lost. We will also plan on having other objectives that the player can choose to complete. The manta ray can be moved by clicking the left and right sides of the screen to move left or right.

My personal contribution I will be creating some of the design elements such as the corals, environment and the fish the manta will collect, because I like art and drawing :)
I will also be helping create the menu select page.

The design of the game will be a 2D illustration style, with a colour pallet mainly consisting of blues and a variety of bright colours for the corals and fish. Initially we were going with vector drawn images, however, Unity converts vector images into raster images anyway. That means I get to play a bit more with stylisation.

Mantaway Logo

This is our Logo that I designed. I wanted to have the Manta Ray swimming as our game is controlling a Manta Ray while it swims. I chose to make it swim in a circle as most organic life doesn't have sharp edges and I also wanted it to look like it is swimming in a bubble.

Manta Rays are usually black and white, however, I felt it was too harsh to have it black and blue. That is why I made the main colour for the Manta Ray a very dark Navy.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about our game and that you are just as keen to learn more about it as I am to continue helping make it!

More images, details and explanations to come :)

Until next time!
Chanae
